“A colossal, uniquely imagined fantasy series Baldwin has set about marking this trilogy binge-worthy.”
Magical illnesses require magical cures, and time is running out.
It's been months since Luella Winthrop left her home town.
Once, the most pressing concern of her life was how to write her next big article. She dreamed of dashing detectives and winning her city’s top literary prize. Now, she’s running from the police and searching, desperately, for a cure to her mysterious, magical ailment.
Aided by a handsome, grieving man, she tears the country apart looking for her salvation. But when that salvation comes in the shape of a charming recluse, the trust and faith of her stalwart companion break down quickly. After all, he has problems of his own, and to cover for Luella, he has to lie not only to the world, but worse, his mother.
The more Luella discovers about her disease, the faster she loses hope of ever being whole for the man she loves. But being whole doesn’t appear to be a requirement for the enigmatic man ready to show her a new magical world.
She will need to decide her heart soon, though, because the longer she straddles the fence, the more powerful the magic becomes. And if there’s one thing that’s certain, it’s that the stronger magic is, the more it is bound to be unpredictable.
Don't miss the sequel to The Crimson Inkwell. Get your copy today and follow Luella on her fantastical journey through memory, mystery, and love.

A train wreck is coming in Luella's future, and you can't look away. As we discover more about the magic and trinkets of this world, it is also evident that Luella 's heart is being tugged in more than one direction. Trust is broken, restored, and strained to the fullest as she continues to hunt for the one person that can explain all the madness now in her life.
When Luella took off in search for a cure to her magical malady, not even her wildest imaginings could have predicted where the journey would take her. Nor would she ever guess just how close to home - and her heart - the search would end up.I enjoyed how this book cleverly flipped upside down so many things Luella thought she knew - the more she learns about magic and Bram and his friends and past - the less she knows about her own life and friends and family. Suddenly she has a new perspective on events from book 1 that make her re-evaluate everything. Surprising allies and bitter betrayals. Who can she really trust? This book had both more danger and adventure than book 1 and more melancholy and introspection. Luella remains passionate, clever, stubborn, but overall still desperately clinging to her need for conventional respectability and responsibility towards her loved ones despite the extremely unconventional situation she finds herself in.Book 2 in the Luella Winthrop trilogy, this book picks up with the unsolved problems from book 1 and ends with a cliffhanger for book 3. Read the series in order! Naomi Rose-Mock does a fabulous job narrating and capturing exactly they type of attitude I would expect Luella to have.
I loved this!! Great continuation of book 1
Luella is still struggling to deal with the magic inside her. Living at Edward's family estate has kept her from being arrested, but she she knows she can't hide forever. Although Edward obviously loves her, Luella has to wonder if he would still love her of she told him all of her secrets.Second book in the trilogy and it doesn't disappoint!
I don't often enjoy sequels as much as the first book, but this second Luella Winthrop book exceeded my expectations! I enjoyed it just as much (if not more?) than the first. The magic system blew my mind and is so clever! The characters became even more fleshed out throughout this book, and I found myself falling more in love (or out of love, but in a good way) with them. And the new characters don't feel like intruders. They are just as round and loveable as the others. I am upset that I have to wait so long for the third to come out! I'm dying to know what happens!
